The worst thing about being a motivational speaker is …

The travel. The best part is being on stage; making folks laugh; and occasionally changing their day. Or even their week. Or their….?

Good news… the best part (stage time) FAR outweighs the difficulty of travel. But sometimes you gotta wonder.

A good friend who is also a magician speaker told me that, “I’d do the stage time for free. What the really pay for is my time in the airport, my time in the hotel, my time in a cab.”

We laughed. Of course I truly believe that what are clients are really buying when they pay our speakers’ fees is our lifetimes of practice and experience that leads to those relatively few minutes on stage.

But still…. no argument from me. Being a speaker, and making a whole group leave their problems behind a wake of laughter is very, Very, VERY fun.
